The Guest Speaker: Kristin kissell
Kristin is a holistic nutritionist and transformational life coach. She started her work as a dancer and is currently working on her graduate thesis at Loyola Marymount University, focusing on the body as a source of revelation. Kristin began her wellness journey after experiencing significant loss and feeling like a 90-year-old in a 20 something body. After constant migraines, no energy or vitality, and years of battling the internal criticism that often comes with being a dancer, she became certified in Integrative Nutrition and began a mentorship for her own life with a spiritual coach. Both aligned actions have catapulted her to where she is now, living a thriving and joy-filled life with a deep desire to serve others in powerful ways.
One of her favorite quotes from Audrey Hepburn is, “Nothing is Impossible. The word itself says I’m Possible.” Kristin believes in embracing the magic and mystery of everyday life, and that anything is possible. She is here to support you on your healing journey and to living a luminous life.
The WORKSHOP: HOLISTIC NUTRITION
Holistic well-being and living a thriving life is about nourishment of mind, body, and spirit. In our western, fast-paced culture, we have become incredibly disconnected from our bodies.
During this workshop, you will begin to reconnect with your body’s wisdom to make healthy food choices with intention and joy. You will learn about the importance of plant-based diets, low-glycemic eating, why healthy fats are essential, and ways to integrate your cravings without self-judgment and shame. By supporting your body with the right nutrition and mindset, you will make vast improvements to your immune and digestive systems. Rewire your brain and the relationship you have with food, reaching new weight loss goals and feeling energized like never before! By learning about the real food approach, the amount of vitamins and minerals you consume will also increase, which is crucial to your overall well-being, stabilizing your blood, creating strong bones, increasing muscle strength, amongst a plethora of other benefits.
The workshop will also touch on the psychological and emotional roots of disease in connection with food and trauma. We all know that destructive eating habits can develop from everyday stress and emotion. But, Dr. Jennifer Weinberg shares, “Neurological pathways connect parts of the brain that process emotions with the spinal cord, muscles, cardiovascular system, and digestive tract. This allows major life events, stressors, or emotions to trigger physical symptoms.” The entire physical body takes on trauma and emotion that affects not only the way we consume our food, but how our body processes the food we are consuming. Learn more about your body awareness and how to create a healthy balance between emotional triggers, eating habits, and overall mental and physical health.
Various exercises will be shared to support your journey in becoming more mindful and aware of your relationship with food. Take this workshop to discover a new sense of peace and enlightenment with food and your body!
